Your question is very important for all the under graduate students.  Its very helpful in their study and for their life.  If they will do some research in their graduation then they trained and they will get some idea about the research as well as about the their surrounding area.

Students are totally unaware in the topic of research process and methodology is almost same in all over the world.  First you should take some class/training on research methodology topics like: How to make a research questionnaire, How to get the references from the website based, How to write the review of Literature, How to select a research topic, how to frame a hypothesis, what is introduction and how to write it, what do you mean by materials and methods, how to enter the data in excel sheet and how to analyse the mass data in Statistical Software (SAS, SPSS, Epinfo, STATA) and etc., How to get the results and from that how to write the interpretation for your particular study.  Then they will get an idea about the research methodology.

After that, based on that your research questionnaire collect the data from the field.  Kindly choose a questionnaire based on community based.  Then only the students are knowing the living condition of the community, what are the problems they would faced, what are all the diseases in the community and etc.  Then only they will be become a good citizen.  Your idea is very nice and goahead and very good.

In the above answer, I forgot to mention about the sample size calculation.  Two ways we have to find the sample size: 1.  population based.  2. disease prevalence.  I think, you already know all these things.

Getting medical students involved and excited about research methodology is often a very challenging ordeal. As you have noted, the best way is to make it as interactive as possible. Would it be possible to conduct a mini-audit and go through the steps from data collection to interpretation of results?

the problem here is that most of the undergraduate students know nothing about research.. so i have to start from scratch and just skim over the basic steps to give them a little orientation.. and yes the link is great but unfortunately things are yet to develop that way here..

but yes i will certainly share the link with the students in my interactive session.. very grateful to you for that.. thank you.

                  Your question in very important when students are getting basic knowledge of research method. students are required first step in research methods, review of literature, objectives, hypothesis, research design, data collection, data analysis, conclusion and last one report writing as per my knowledge

All the best for you and do it in a good manner.  If you will teach to the students how to do a research is very good job.  And you can also get some knowledge and experience from them.  And you will apply that experience in the next batch of students.  Then, you should eliminating the error (survey error) and you will get the correct data.  Then you will get the correct results.  From that results/interpretation you will do something for the community/people in your surveyed area.  Then everybody happy.  ok.

From my interaction with undergraduate students, most of them know about common health related issues and problems but generating a research question and objectives is always quite challenging
