I am wanting to explore the usage of stiffened panels for constructing flat floor boards for cars. what are the various stiffness consideration (i.e. bending, torsion etc.) one needs to meet? and what are the typical stiffness values that needs to design for?
There are different parameters for defining the stiffness of a car chassis / car body, e.g. torsional stiffness, eigenfrequency behavior or the lightweight rating number.
Exemplary, the lightweight rating number L is a ratio of the body mass mB and the torsion stiffness cT under consideration of the body dimensions (axle area A): L = mb / (cT * A). Exemplary distribution of the torsional stiffness and lightweight rating numbers in different vehicle classes can be found in Fig_1 and Fig_2 (attached).
In addition, Fig_3 explains the setting of dimensioning the values for calculating L.

A stiff chassis is a important structural part of the car (chassis stiffness a characteristics feature of chassis suspension design) yields cornering torque to handle suspension more easily.
Torsional stiffness or bending stiffness (withstand twisting load)- 20000-35000Nm/deg
Rolling Stiffness( resistance moment by anti roll roll angle of the sprung mass)- 2500Nm/deg per axle.
This measures the chassis will twist under the loads transferred to it from the suspension.Tubular space frame chassis is considered better.
