One question. What du you mean by thermal flowmeters? Thermal flowmeter (flow metrer that mesure flow using thernal method) or heat fluxmeter (to measure heat flux). Captec produces the second type. As for the method of measurement (contact, using the Fourier law) is as far as I know, they are not invented anything better. It is important to precision measurement of the temperature difference, the greater it is, the less the uncertainty of the temperature measurement. Another important factor is the thermal conductivity sensor. It should be constant throughout the measuring range of the sensor. Smaller uncertainties generally have sensors with smaller measuring ranges of temperature.
