Dear all,

I would like to clarify on the steps for the chemical activation for the activated carbon synthesis. Through readings, chemical activation can be carried out by (a) solid-solid mixing and (b) wet impregnation method.

For the wet impregnation, there are many procedures have been published. But the common procedures are as follows:

(a) mixing (or stir) precursors/char with activating agent solution at room temperature --> filtration ----> drying ---> carbonization/activation

(b) mixing precursors/char with activating agent solution ----> heated/dried the mixture/slurry in oven for some time at Temp = 70-110oC  ---- > carbonization/activation

May I know which method is the best for the chemical activation process (in terms of pore and surface area development)? Appreciate if you all can share your opinion.

Thank you in advance.
