Interaction between any two space objects is really a possibility of high energy loss according to kinematics. Similar type of interaction between the Earth and another planet or space object (meteor) made a disintegration in Earth surface and the small disintegration part become the Moon. Similarly, interaction between small planets, interaction between stars, interaction between near by galaxies happens in the Universe all time. Dark energy should also play an important role for interaction in stars and galaxies. Such interaction made addition or subtraction of plant/star numbers in a galaxy. Also particle exchange between galaxies, stars, planets happen. It is possible of particles like Higgs-Boson (a god particle) may transfer from one galaxy to another galaxy. And this would be entered into Carbon-Oxygen-nitrogen molecule and made it a molecular disintegration and that made RNA type and DNA type creatures in the Earth. Similar kind of evolution would happen in any part of Universe.
What do you mean by "strongly interacting matter"? Matter as mass interacts via the gravitational force. Matter that carries electric charge interacts via the the electromagnetic force and quarks interact through the nuclear 'strong force". Dark matter has only a gravitational component insofar as what little I know. Is "strongly interacting matter" something different?
