What are the parameters that influence the process of DEM generation from a Cartosat-1 stereo image?

I am using multiple Cartosat-1 stereo images for generating DEM. I want to know how to choose the ground control point location to get an accurate DEM. I have generated the DEM using software LPS 9.1. DEM gives very negative values at some locations in spite of providing ground control points at those location.

You should check the parameters’ used for the data processing. Maybe the image matching failed to detect correct homologous points (or never found homologous points at all) where you have negative values.
