Informal learning as all knows about that not a type of traditional learning in which there are predefined curriculum and organizations and having predefined objectives to be achieved. Regarding informal learning despite technologies the things required are.

• Knowledge creation skills to contribute to the phenomena.
• Proper mentoring capability.
• proper Activities in the society.
• Experiences and the ability to share
• observation skills to learn in the society

Also the skill to transform as the kids learn the language from their families especially the mother is in example of informal learning. And also some people learn on job places is also an example and required the skills to enhance the learning.

This is indeed a crucial question for schools and teaching organisations. Informal learning is gaining more 'popularity' as a topic. Research is focused around it, teachers focus on it.

Lets asume informal training has to do with teaching outside the curriculum. That probably has to do with topics which are important for the outer society but not taught it schools (assumption)

I think the answer to this question expands at many levels:

1) Teacher training: new modes of school management, learning about the society.

2) ICT: Social media and its potential to schools.

3) Engaging members of the other organizations to assist school.

I agree with Konstantinos. You can use social media to find out what employees think of issues or have them debate on a topical issue relating to the organisation or society. Hi!

Let' not mix up informal learning with non-formal learning, which it becomes when you try to organise it more and adapt it to organisational needs etc. What makes informal learning informal is that it happens outside curricula, organised teaching and assessment.

What kind of organisation that informal learning can need is, when it has occured and can be demonstrated, that the individual can get his/her learning recognised, even if nobody has taught him or her neither in a course within organisational training nor in a course in civil society or organisations (that is non-formal learning) nor in formal school system (formal learning).

And really, if we think about it more closely: There is no formal learning.

Surprised? There is just learning, and all learning should be recognised, if it can be demonstrated. Don't you agree?

I fully agree with Mr. Irshah Ullah's case. But Mr. Konstantinos, I do not mean just educational organizations and schools. I mean the informal learning flow in any organization, including educational, industrial, manufacturing, ... Of course, the level I'm looking for informal learning is according to you ICT: Social Media and its potential of organizations. Also, I agree with Mrs. Nisha's view, a Mentor that can facilitate and purposeful the informal learning flow in the organization, but with what method? And that Mentor be familiar with technology.

But Mr. Norberg completely agrees with your opinion about the difference between non-learning and informal learning. But I did not understand the final sentence, that the categorization of formal and informal learning is not correct and only learning?

In the end all learning is learning, independently of how I achieved it. If I can solve an equation and know what I am doing and what for, that is good enough. In real life it is no big use to ask someone if he learnt solving equations in a formal, informal or nonformal setting. And if he knows how to do it, there ought to be ways in society to validate such competence.

In a way, I am talking about the wide (in my view) misuse of the term "learning". Learning is a complex phenomenon that we do not really know how it exactly works. But we have myriads of term like elearning, distance learning, online learning....and these formal l., non formal l. informal learning - they are all saying someting about the instrumentation of learning or the settings or conditions of learning, not about learning itself. We perhaps should talk about education or teaching instead.

Just reflections and provocations. I once made a presentation about the use of the term learning, and parts of my dissertation concerns this as well.

I've read a file about the learning alphabet. In fact, my research work focuses on D-learning, of course, digital learning among organizational staff or adults and in an informal structure. I'm very keen to know more about the learning process in the current digital era and to research.

And thanks for sending your treatise. I am not very familiar with the structure of the dissertation at different universities. I think your research questions are in the form of articles in the abstract section, and with a review on the text of the file, your research question 5 is partly related to the focus of my research and work on my thesis. I'm glad to use your guidances in this area.
