The bacterial strain A3 was isolated from a subsurface soil sample during a screening for bacteriocin-producing strains. All test strains used were procured from the Microbial Type Culture Collection (MTCC), Chandigarh, India. The morphological characteristics, such as Gram staining and endospore staining, and physiological tests, like growth at different temperatures, pH, and salt concentrations, were determined as per standard methods. Biochemical tests, including acid production from different carbohydrates, were performed as described by Smibert and Kreig (19). The genomic DNA was extracted using a DNA extraction kit (Zymo Research, USA) as per the manufacturer's instructions and used for 16S rRNA gene amplification, and subsequent sequence analysis was performed as described earlier
