What are the methods or strategies useful in controlling Fall Army Worm in rice crop other than the followings.
1. Timely planting & avoid staggered cultivation
2. Resistant varieties or induced resistance by adding Si containing compounds
3. Conservation of natural enemies and encourage the activity of predators
4. Chemical control

We have used two methods against FAW in our country and found promising results.
1. Releasing larval parasitoid Bracon hebetor (800-1000 parasitoid per hectare area) and
2. Spraying NPV for Spodoptera
Both methods produced satisfactory results though the use of Bracon hebetor is more cost-effective.
