India is a vast country and rainfall is not the same everywhere. Some place have good amount of rain and are water rich. On the other hand there are deserts which have scanty rainfall. Due to this the distribution of water is uneven at different places. The belts of converging-ascending air flow, air temperature, moisture-bearing winds, ocean waves, distance inland from the coast, and mountain ranges are all factors that influence the distribution of rainfall over the earth's surface. Water is unevenly distributed because of variations in seasons and landscape. Some areas receive very little water from rainfall, while some areas get flooded because of rain. For example, in India, we get most of our water resources in the rainy season, while we receive little or no water in the summer. The distribution of water on the Earth's surface is extremely uneven. Only 3% of water on the surface is fresh; the remaining 97% resides in the ocean. Of freshwater, 69% resides in glaciers, 30% underground, and less than 1% is located in lakes, rivers and swamps. This unequal distribution of water on the planet drives a diversity in climate and ecosystems (or biomes); water availability for human life, industry, and agriculture; and is fundamentally and intimately tied to the history of politics, economics, food production, population dynamics, and conflict. The scarcity of water in the Middle East is primarily caused by natural factors, such as limited rainfall and high temperatures, but also by human activities, such as overexploitation of groundwater resources and inefficient irrigation practices. Some major causes of conflicts over water include allocation of water between different states, inadequate water supply, urbanization & population growth, Excess withdrawals by a state, etc. The distribution of rainfall uneven in India due to the following reasons: Latitudinal extent: The tropical and coastal regions and plains receive more rainfall than the plateau and desert regions in the interior. Relief and topography: The windward side of mountains and hills receive more rainfall than leeward side. Resources are distributed unequally over the earth because different physical factors vary massively over the earth. Distribution of natural Resources is dependent on various physical factors like altitude, climate, and terrain.
