I won't know how we can calculate return on investment(ROI) from a particular book/journal in an academic library context which never been used (or circulated by the library among the users)by library users. Can you suggest some essential criteria/software/ statistical tools for calculating the ROI of a particular book?
Return on investment (ROI) also known as return on equity. It is measured as profit after tax and preference dividend divided over total equity capital.

The "return" of a book might be non-measurable. HOWEVER, one indicator of the benefit of a book in a library, might be number of times/persons that have borrowed the book from the library in a given period of time. I am analyzing from the point of view of the library.
The typical return in terms of money makes no sense in this case. The benefits are not measurable in terms of money! The benefit of a book might not be correlated to its price!

I want to know that there are many books or journals that library users do not access in an academic library. Then that situation, how can be calculated ROI of that particular book/journal that library users do not access. Are there standard criteria for that specific book for measuring the ROI?
