I have just found the "Erikson's stages of Psychosocial development" on Wikipedia (http://bitly.com/kkZIGW)and it gives names of different age groups. Is it fine to use them for Marketing Research Project?

You can control the age groups however you like. some might like to make groups with 5 years for example 10 -15, 16 - 20; 21-25 and so on. Others like to make 10 years groups such as 10-20; 20-30 and so on.

For an online marketing study, if you want to study online buying trends, it is best to study the age group between 20 and 40 since these include people who are much more open to internet shopping than elders and are more tech-savvy. these are are people who are earning as well. Younger people may require supervision or not be allowed to shop online.

As per your study topic you should go for young adult and adults. reason is that the topic of your study is not very old although teenagers can also be a sample but due to lack of experience to your topics demand they can give you very rational inputs which will in the end effect your stats.
