Dear all, I would greatly appreciate if any one can suggest what are the major things to be considered to get good yield of products during electrochemical reduction (constant potential or constant current) of CO2 including the electrochemical cell set up.

Prof. Hori has mentioned in a chapter he wrote on CO2 electroreduction, that it is very important to conduct pre-electrolysis of the solution before starting the actual electrolysis. This way, you would eliminate the active material contamination, so the yield and the current density would be much higher.
