First of all, what is Public Relations in the Developing Countries context?
The term Public Relations is a technical and mutual understanding between the communities and the Government in general or organization in particular.
There are many pitfalls are existing in the community that hinders the development of the Government or organization.
Here, I can highlight some important challenges are existing in the Developing Countries.
1. Capabilities of understanding
This is the common problem in the developing countries because there are many stakeholders are illiterate than the few intellectual in the society or community. So, the majority have greater power than minority of the intelligent. The majority of the individuals have not equal in the knowledge status and understanding capacity in the community.
2. Financial constraints
Most of the developing countries have greater constraints in the budget issues that they can't able to fulfill the stakeholders in the community as well. It is not equal to satisfy all in the society.
3. Lack of Professional
It is very difficult to find out the specific field of the know-how in the particular profession. Even those intellectual will go abroad for good earnings and they will not stay in their native place in the Developing Countries.
4. Language Constraints
Most of them will communicate only through local language only. If any alien will come to the society for any research or feasibility studies will face many challenges with these community.
5. Infrastructural limitations
All are not getting equal facilities in the given society because there are economic variations in the community that hinders the public relations among the stakeholders.
6. Ethical issues
Lack of ethical constraints in the existing professionals and organizations. They have never ever experienced in the rules and regulations of the system.
7. Intensive Communications
There are many tiny groups in the community having many communication platforms in the society that will affects the routine progress of the society.
8. Credibility
It is very difficult to find out the trust worthy person because everyone is looking for cross road development and achievements without any hardwork. Faithful people may not appear apparently.
9. No Appreciation
There is no voluntary appreciation from the community because of the jealousy mind and thinking might disturb the public relations concept in the most of the developing countries.
10. Difference in Solidarity
The community may have difference in opinion and it is very difficult to find out the common solidarity except needs and interest of common goals.
Hope these points are enough to define the public relations in the developing countries.
I think the main challenges are related to the trust and credibility of the media and public leaders. In some countries, governments are facing a high inflation rate with decreasing value of national currencies. Some countries are facing food shortages. The other healthcare shortages. In general, the role of public relations is very high to work on overcoming difficulties.
As the question is formulated it is very broad and open to (mis)interpretation. "Developing countries" is ill-defined. "Public relations" are not confined to the public (i.e., government) sector; private (including non-government organisations that are not-for-profit) organisations have public relations, even individuals have them. There is also a common inherent problem with public relations; if they are meant to present an organisation, or individual, in the best possible light to contribute to their purpose/mission, truthfulness may not be viewed as helpful. I wonder whether "developing" and "developed" countries, presently, differ significantly in terms of challenges to "public relations" in a general sense, and whether a convincing, falsifiable case can be made that there is a measurable difference in challenges dependent on the context of "developing" versus "developed" countries.
