Often the department you are in or the journal in which you plan to publish specifies the writing and citation standard that is expected. Also, editors of academic journals often prescribe slight changes to one of the standard styles for their journal instead of adopting them as they are, thus creating, even more, variation. so, please recommend a good citation generator site for me.

I use Web of Science and Scopus. Some universities don't consider the Google Scholar citation count because it is not reliable. It includes citations by poor sources.
I rely on Google Scholar & ResearchGate. The answers here were very usful and increased my insight.
I think following steps may help.
1. Publication in a good (preferably of at least 5- 6 year old and non - predatory) journal indexed by some good indexing agencies (as Scopus, Thomson Reuter, Pubmed etc.) in OPEN ACCESS.
2. Uploading the articles in RG, Academia.edu etc. site.
Google Scholar will catch it autometically.

Google Scholar for sure. Then I would say Researchgate and Web of Science.
Also, I noticed that Google Scholar is more accurate in the sense that also 'poor sources' are reported.
