one aspect of this that may warrant further research in terms of adding value to data is whether or not there is a correlation between differences in recovery rates and welfare, including healthcare, provision. At present the majority of deaths, at least in Europe, are among vulnerable groups. It may need to be taken into account if welfare provision has enabled a higher proportion of such vulnerable groups within the population, something that may skew the data. A related issue is how much pollution has resulted in higher levels of vulnerability by causing/exacerbating respiratory conditions.
