I already use a "Sociogram" Model of Evaluation, specifically in mathematics lesson. For example, exploring a solution of a problem from numerous ethnic and then working in a collaboration or class collaboration. That is nice.

Interesting question. Maybe, teaching about basic humans' characteristics, their similarity in essence, their rights and duties. And, I think that each type of humans global misunderstanding and hate comes from unsatisfied persons. When someone is unsatisfied (any reason could be in the basis), he/she hates others on any basis because its' kind of possibility to blame others for one's bad personal state. Happy and satisfied people live their lives, they don't have motivation and interest to violate others. That's why it's important to teach children from the earliest childhood to create their own satisfaction.

These are all fantastic ideas to help me have some specific ideas for anti-racist pedagogy. Please keep the great ideas coming! :)

Sometimes, research themes help me to overcome the racist issues. It looks important when guiding students to make their reports. Also in presenting the reports in front of testers. So, I also use Education Foundation Sciences, for instance Mythology, Culture, and Archeology. That is a nice discussion for the future.

It requires the best reflective practitioner skills from the side of teacher to be an expert teacher. If teacher will be expert rather than effective, then he/she can handle all the activities and questions regarding racism. So, along with the content knowledge, pedagogical skills and cultural competence skills teacher must also be the reflective practitioner to handle racism during teaching and learning process.

When racism is mentioned, many persons will think of it as a mere divide between black & white or colored & white. In my humble opinion, it is much broader than that and includes prejudices under the umbrella of differences in political affiliations, creeds, regional belonging, families, riches, gender, and personal characteristics.

In the world of today, individual racism ( on an interpersonal level) has become embedded in organizations, systems and educational institutions through their policies, procedures and practices. The "poor" individual's brain has been invaded with beliefs and directed "ways" of seeing/doing things with subsequent practice of discrimination consciously or unconsciously. All of that is supported and is reinforced by systemic racism.

Systemic racism includes the policies & practices deep-rooted in established institutions, which results in the exclusion or promotion of selected groups intentionally with a plot.

This "destructive" racism requires remedial actions from a variety of "notable" intellectuals among which are the university teachers in higher education. The teachers have to set exemplary attitudes of justice that will be admired & followed. They also have to raise the level of thinking in most of the students because shallowness of minds is the real cause of racism. The anti-racism teacher has to be honest & truthful in carrying out his/her job. Such teachers can influence the students in a meaningful manner.

In my opinion, it may be important to emphasize the following fundamentals: Identity, Difference, heterogeneity, otherness, universal values, intersubjectivity, individuality, collectivity, ecoculturality, cultural sustainability.

My suggestion is to spend some time at a minority serving institution. Understand that having a culturally responsive classroom will always be a work in progress so prepare yourself for a long haul. Make a concerted effort towards properly pronouncing student names. Avoid unintentionally favoring whiteness. Do not penalize students for being hesitant to participate in live discussions. Conversely, do not enforce harsh penalties that disproportionately impact students of color. Avoid racially coded language that devalues and/or otherizes our students and their families. Do not forget to acknowledge your own racial identity as it is part of the equation as that does impact the delivery of content. Invite guest speakers on topics when it will be more appropriate. Do not allow bias, racial insensitivity, and sterotyping based on gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, nation of origin, and religion in your classroom. There is quite a lot of literature available on this topic but this is just my advice as a white woman who has been an educator for the past 16 years at a Historically Black University where 93% of my students are people of color and my colleaques are overwhelmingly non-white.

A wonderful edited book, Teaching to Difference? The Challenges and Opportunities of Diversity in the Classroom, Nicole E. Johnson & Stacey-Ann Wilson (Eds.) (2014) is fantastic, and the chapter by Wanda Knight is a must read; she describes her pedagogy in a university classroom setting. Additionally, books that have helped my develop my pedagogy are by bell hooks; Where we Stand: Class Matters (2000), and Teaching Critical Thinking: Practical Wisdom (2010), both published by Routledge. They go beyond racism into a deep thoughtful pedagogical practices that is inclusive of all learners.

Diversity programs that are intentionally against racism (NCBI); sharing experiences among students who are diverse; reading articles written by people who are diverse [if the classroom is mono ethnic and/or mono color, include articles of people who are from different ethnic and racial groups; role playing; what if activities.

I think that it is important to have cultural competency and languages skills in other areas than our own. In particular nursing, which vocation is to help and serve people in need in regard to health issues. Nursing could be very invasive in the sense that the patient would be taken care by a so call "stranger", and people may not necessary feel comfort in that setting. Using a common ground is crucial, conversing on topics that are familiar to the patience opens up the [possibility for this one to develop trust and confidence. as a result, the facilitation by the patient him/herself would establish a cooperation and/or collaboration rapport between the patient and the health staff; lowering defensives and aggressiveness via verbal and nonverbal communication from each other. After all the best interest of both should be the prompt recovery and wellbeing of the patient.

my opinion..

Multicultural-based character education is education that emphasizes a progressive approach to enable all students with various cultural backgrounds to receive a fair and quality education in accordance with their backgrounds.

While multicultural education aims for an education that is anti racist; who pay attention to basic skills and knowledge for world citizens; important for all students; which penetrates all aspects of the education system; develop attitudes, knowledge, and skills that enable students to work for social justice; which is a process by which teachers and students together learn the importance of cultural variables for academic success@

There is much re-framing of ingrained (and unaware of) perceptions of others that must take place as a part of anti-racist teaching!
