Not the works in a specific domain, but the works that address Big Data analysis, processing, or storage, that can be applied in different domains. Maybe some specific works related to MapRedcue, distributed processing, stream processing, machine learning, data mining, GPU, or databases?
I will try to point out some of the works I see as having potential in this field, as per my limited knowledge. I have interest in signal processing so I will rather point out works that are more related to the domain. These works contain some reference to learning and adaptive methodologies but may not be specific to some tools. Though you will find the mathematical framework in them. I hope that it helps you in some way.
An interesting work is the formulation of Discrete Signal Processing Framework on graphs. As you know that Big Data especially that related to social networks, genetics, bimolecular interactions can be represented in the form of graphs, so this new domain is quite interesting.
An other application is the diffusion of beliefs in the social networks. This is an application of the diffusion operators to model the propagation of beliefs and news throughout social networks and can have interesting applications in the modern day in the context of network security and tracing the sources of news and propaganda throughout any type of community networks. One of the links is an interesting take on the work done in this regard and how it could be useful in tracking the faults in the large scale power distribution systems and sources of contamination in the water sources.
Similarly this method can also find uses in the in tracing the source of epidemics etc.
I think the possibilities are virtually endless and I am waiting for the replies of researchers who are well versed in this domain as this could turn into a very informative thread.
