Human–robot interaction is the study of interactions between humans and robots. It is often referred as HRI by researchers. Human–robot interaction is a multidisciplinary field with contributions from human–computer interaction, artificial intelligence, robotics, natural language understanding, design, and social sciences.
The topics that were presented at this conference may help you with locating some of the multidisciplinary areas. The main areas are usually technology, regulation, psychology, moral and ethics, but all areas should be treated as interrelated with each other.

Another important topic is industrial "cobotic". In the industry domain, robotic applications were always implemented by robotic experts. Now, a new trend is to propose a "cobot", which allows co-working with an operator in the same place (not dangerous if appropriate sensors are used to stop the robot in case of problem), and programming by the operator himself (by means of simple graphical tools). This is a conceptual revolution in industrial robotics with important cost reductions and simplifications and therefore new applications, even if few repetitions and important and frequent adaptations are required.
Another trend is telerobotics with a humanoid robot,or at least robotic arms, which can be remotely controlled. Examples are Robonaut in astronautics, Da Vinci in surgical robotics and Ocean One in the submarine exploration domain. Human robot interactions are clearly very efficient in this case with important adaptation capabilities.
When applying robots to manufacturing processes, it is also important to carefully investigate the work to be shared. HRI only makes sense if the endurance of robots can be combined with crafts and flexibilities of human beings.
