hi..I feel the current topic in mining is how to control the stability of mining excavations..you might be knowing that recently in north eastern states there was a reported failed mining excavation and killed by many skilled labours worked in the site..so still we have a scope in doing research on strengthening the stability of mining operations..also, the research on the development of model tool to detect mining resources in land..i feel these two topics are very relevant and more important in today mining works..ok all the best..
