I'm looking for (preferably longitudinal) population-based studies that have been conducted with the oldest old, i.e. 85 years and above. If you could post a link to the study that would be greatly appreciated.
The NONA study from Jonkoping Sweden is population based and longitudinal and includes people living in institutions and at home, aged 86, 90, and 94, measured every 2 years for 3 measurement occasions (6 years total for follow-up).
One subset of the study focuses on the immune system (there are many publications but here is an example: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0531556507000940).
Other publications focus on psychosocial and health variables, for example (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17368828). I have published with this data as well which is why I am familiar with the study: http://gerontologist.oxfordjournals.org/content/47/5/613.abstract

Dr PKB Nayar, who is the Director of Center for Gerontological Studies, Thiruvanthapuram, Kerala, India has done a lot of work with 85 + population. Pl contact him. You may refer me if you feel like.
TheJerusalem Longitudinal Cohort Study has followed up a birth cohort from 1920-21, with comprehensive assessment across numerous domains of health function, mood , cognition, as well as medical status. Data was collected at ages 70, 78 85, and most recently at age 90-91. Attached is a reference to a recent publication which presents a summary of the health profile of the cohort at different ages.
Similar studies of 85 year olds include the Leiden study, and the Newcastle study. Happy to answer any specific questions,
