I am simulating a predator-prey interaction between the species Myxococcus xanthus and Caenorhabditis elegans, with the bacteria being the prey and nematodes as the predator.

(A brief) Experimental setup is as follows:

-Plate M. xanthus onto standard 1.5% CTT media-let grow in isolation at 32C for 48 hrs.

-Bleach synchronize populations of C. elegans, wash for 48 hrs. Plate onto M. xanthus.

- Allow interaction to occur over 5 days

After 5 days, odd crystallization formations began appearing on my plates. I concluded that this is occurring due to the interaction, as my plates with only M. xanthus had no sign of these formations. I am unsure of what they are, and what is causing these to appear. I have not found much information in the literature. Has anyone seen these before? Attachments are included.
