Hello,

I am specialized in wetting balance tests for leads or terminations of integrated circuits by dipping them at 90°.

I test only PCBs by sampling coupons metallized on the 2 sides, with an immersion angle of 90°.

Some customers want to test PCBs with an immersion angle of 40°, with one metallized side and one unwettable side (see attached File 2). So the standard equation on Wetting force (see attached File 1) does not apply.

I have bought the book “Soldering in Electronics” written by R. J. Klein Wassink that most publications and solderability test specifications mention, but no indication was given when the immersion angle is not equal to 0° or to 90°.

Could you help me?

Best regards.
