I need a car with: (1) good wheels, (2) good engine, (3) good breaks, and (4) without much electronics. Is it possible to buy such a car? I do not like smart machines.
I am looking for such a car as well. I have no answers. First, I think, we have to get rid of the present push for globalism and the push for the elimination of fossil fuels.
Yes, it is possible to buy a car that meets your criteria. Many classic cars are still available for purchase and offer the features you're looking for. These cars often lack modern electronics, making them ideal for those who do not like smart machines. Some classic models that you might consider include the Volkswagen Beetle, Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, and Dodge Challenger.
Mostak Ahamed - Thank you! I wanted to buy a car similar to the one I have, which is good, but old (fourteen years). The manufacturer is on your list; I will ask them if they have something for me.
Dear Mario Radovan, I'm retired like you and define myself as "differently young". In my opinion, for us differently young people, the ideal and fun cars are "self-driving" cars. It doesn't matter what kind of engine they have, whether the wheels are circular or square, or whether they use electronics or not. The important thing is that if I ask to be taken to the university in my city, they will carry out the order perfectly, safely, and with maximum comfort. Therefore I strongly advise you to buy a self-driving car that minimizes driver effort and maximizes safety. On the other hand, historic cars perhaps cost more than self-driving cars. Not to mention that the costs for maintenance and spare parts are enormous.
I am also a bit advanced in age but I will never buy a 'self-driving' car. First of all, the technology does not as yet exist, if it ever will? The key reason are a lack of suitable sensors.
BTW, self-driving cars are being developed for the purpose to repossess your car if your ESG score does not meet the government's objective. You have no control over that. The electronics will be built-in. They start your car and drive it to a collecting station nearby, and you are out of your car. They claim your ESG score is bad and you are harming the environment. Judges have not power to stop that practice. Beware. One way that makes it more difficult is if you have a garage. However. they just wait until you are on the road, they take over control and drive to collecting station, throw you of the car. Fete complete.
The problem with old cars is that the engine technology is usually old, having generally poor efficiency.
Just buy the base models, without the electronics, these are also lower in price.
Leonardo Cannizzaro - I will never buy a self-driving car, because i love to drive, and I am a very good driver. I graduated computer science hundred years ago. I now hate "automatics" because I want to live! And to live, means to do something, not to be a toy run (in the hands of) by all sorts of automatons.
