Post operative vte prophylaxis after discharge ideally be continued atleast for two weeks by that time most are fully ambulent.Those with H/O VTE should have longer post op prophylaxis with regular follow up.

Our local protocol is to discharge patients in deltaparin 5000 units ,s/c once daily.

My protocol is early mobilization of patients 6 hours after surgery, 6000 unıts enoxaparin sodium s.c. twice a day in hospital for 3 days and 6000 unıts enoxaparine sodiıum s.c. once a day for 10 ten days after discharge. My patients have no any thrombotic complication.
