Is it obvious that VR can help medical education? Yes.
Then why are so many academic institutions resistant to implement this technology?
I would like to personally extend an offer to demonstrate hands on to any medical school interested and give a live demo opportunity to anyone in this sphere to learn about this technology.
I will travel anywhere in the world to promote this know how. It’s a rising tides float all boats equation. The VR community is in its diapers stage.

Most likely it is to do with the expenditure on a technology that has not yet demonstrated a significant edge in medical instruction at the undergraduate level. There have been forays into this field, but normally at institutions that have more money than the NIH could ever hope to throw at them. Also, I have seen it in the abdominal organ transplantation field, with a company that was offering 3d modeling from MRI and angiography scans for liver resections, ablations, and transplantations at the ASTS conference. This allowed physicians to manipulate a 3D representation of a liver with hand held controllers and VR goggles.
Additionally, with the advent of better screens and cameras the world of surgery doesn't necessarily benefit in instruction from VR either, given that many practice modules for procedures can easily be done with a model, instruments, and a high resolution screen.
If this is a genuine offer, I could bring it to the admins at my school and see about working toward an opportunity to present it, but no promises. What particularly would you be using this to present in the classroom? Anatomy is, I would imagine, the easiest, but seems like a very expensive piece of tech to implement for a course that takes up perhaps 1/8th of the total 4 years in med school.
I agree with many of your reasonings; however with the new anatomically correct VR models I am a true advocate of VR pre-surgical planning - not just surgical instruction.
And as I pointed out in my previous reply, this is an area that is currently active in the market. I still have doubts about its use in medical school, especially the pre-clinical years, but I remain open to the possibility that the technology continues to improve and become even more immersive, allowing for greater training in clinical scenarios.

I strognly agree with you. Medidal and nursing education can be drastically reformed using AR and VR. But universities still mind in adapting such an advanced technology.
