For a while (~last 10 years) I haven't read anything about the controversy of global warming and climate change. I only heard about it over the last decade when some news talked about natural disasters occurring around the world.
Today I just googled "global warming climate change controversy" because I need to write parts of my thesis and found that there has been a lot of rough/acid discussions as well as strong/marked opinions going on during these last years, but apparently without reaching a consensus whether global warming is causing climate change or even climate change is a real thing.
That's why I would appreciate if someone could point me to some up-to date references about this controversy, especially scientific controversy rather than political/economical views. This is, to me, because climate change is not well received by the latter. It would also be nice to read your opinions about this controversy.

@Paul Jacob: These are hard accusations, especially if we are not talking about public political discussion, but about the way that science proceeds, by argument and counterargument, and by peer-reviewed publications. To me, a suggestion that 'Any publications which contradic popular beliefs dont get pass through peer review process' sounds like an unsubstatiated general statement. About which manuscripts are you talking? What did the reviewers say against them?
Concerning your friends thesis: What were his arguments, and what were the profs counterarguments?
I would suggest we return to science. @Gery Herzobo: One of the main controversies over the last years is whether there is currently a 'global warimg hiatus' or not and if so, whether it really disproves that greenhouse gases are driving a global warming. I found the opinion pieces (i.e. not reviewed) in Nature and Nat. Clim Change (linked below) good starting points for the discussion. And they give references to the peer-reviewed papers, too!

Thanks to both of you Paul Jacob and Christoph Voelker, I appreciate your interest in answering my question. I could read your first answer Paul and particularly don't think that you should have deleted it, I don't think they were hard accusations, I think it is evidence that could be corroborated, though. Thanks for the links Christoph, I will take a look at them.
