I am simulating different 5G scenarios in NetSim which implements the 3GPP 38.900 propagation models. Can someone explain (i) how to create different scenarios (Rural, urban), (ii) LOS/NLOS channels, and (iii) Indoor and outdoor models?
Can you please explain the LOS/NLOS selection in these models? How does NetSim decide which to choose since there are a lot of differences between the two?. Is it pre-configured?
In outdoor models, you may use this very interesting and important report: Daly, A., Nickerson, C., Stewart, J. (2020). Report for Ericsson and Qualcomm, 5G action plan review for Europe, Analysis Mason, September 2020 Ref: 698248493-392. It's about the European 5G Action Plan (5GAP). Good look!
The documentation is useful, and I had a few more questions on NetSim 3gppchannelmodel.
Fading: Do stationary users also experience fading or is it applied only to mobile users?
Coherence time: (a) It looks to me like this is a global parameter common to all associated UEs to one gNB. Hence cannot vary within a gNB but can be changed across gNBs. Is this correct? (b) Shouldn't coherence time be related to velocity? What is different UEs (attached to a gNB) have different velocities?
Fading is applied to all UEs associated with the BS (gNB). All UEs share the same coherence time. To set coherence times individually for each UE, minor modifications are required in the source codes. After these adjustments, rebuild and run NetSim.
