We use Pfeiffer DCU Turbo molecular pump for our magnetron sputtering system. After an unforeseen power outage, unfortunately, the pump has malfunctioned and displayed Error e117. I searched through the manual, but surprisingly that error code is not mentioned.
Is anybody familiar with that error and its meaning? Thnx
I think error 117 means your turbo exceeded the motor temperature limit. So check whether your cooler system works fine or whether there is rotor/stator grinding.
Both of these things would of course only make sense if the error does not appear immediately, but some time after turning on.
Regarding the grinding: you can check that by pressing the front end of a large screwdriver against the pump and the grip end against your ear. If you only hear a high-pitch sound, the pump is fine internally, but if you hear also a deep grinding noise, your rotor and/or stator are suffering and need to be replaced. If available, check the regular sound with a functioning model of the same type.
