For the synthesis of thermoplastic polyurethane we used polyol, diisocyanate and chain extender. In some book it is mentioned as addition polymer while in other it is mentioned as condensation polymer. There is no unsaturation in any chemical so there is no chance of addition polymerization. Further, there no by-product is generated during synthesis. So, as per the definition it is not a condensation polymer also. I am confused, then what kind of polymer it is? Somewhere I read it is one kind of molecular rearrangement reaction. But, I am not sure. Please answer this question with literature support, if possible.
