Training Programmes
I would reccommend Marek Gierlinski's textbook Understanding Statistical Error. This is a synopsis of a very successful course that he has run for our postgraduates over a number of years.
There are reputable courses online, for example:
> https://www.classcentral.com/course/edx-introduction-to-applied-biostatistics-statistics-for-medical-research-5158
Or in class, such as this short course at University of Oxford:
Also, University College London has an MSc course that is specifically for health domain, which includes both basic and advanced statistics modules.

I have found Coursera.com to be helpful. Online and you can take classes for free.
