Definitely, cell phones played a significant role in the collecting of COVID-19 data. There were several phones applications were used for submitting travel data, Flu symptoms, relative visits, possible contact with infected people, visiting epidemic areas during the last period and so on. Some countries used cell phones for direct contact between patients and their doctors.
Dear Babak Jamshidi .. smart phones are very useful for quick survies (like monkey survey).. but also if you can use it for distribution of all you contacts with links to your questionnaire on say google docs for example.
There are many cell based apps used for contact tracing in current pandemic but overall impact is not significant
