The following equation is generally used for the calculations of the ratio of hypocholesterolemic /hypercholesterolemic (h/H) fatty acids, or h/H fatty acids index (Santos-Silva et al. 2002; doi:10.1016/s0301-6226(02)00059-3).
h/H=(C18:1+C18:2+ C20:3+C20:4+C20:5+C22:4+C22:5+C22:6)/(C14:0+C16:0)
My question is what about C20:1 and C20:2 fatty acids? do we need to include them as hypercholesterolemic fatty acids? (if our sample contains such fatty acids).

They belong to unsaturated fatty acids family. You have to consider them as hypocholesterolemic like C18:1 and C18:2.
