Dear Colleagues,

We are trying to examine the correlation coefficients between nutrients calculated from dietary records and food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). In the crude analysis we see reasonable coefficients (for instance 0.45 for thiamine). However when we try to assess the correlation coefficient for energy-adjusted nutrient intakes (dietary records vs FFQ) we see that the coefficients are seriously reduced. for instance the correlation coefficients reduced to 0.09 for thiamine. We used residual method to calculate the energy standardized nutrient intakes for both dietary record and FFQ. Is there any explanation?
