It won't permit tuning. Our spectrometer is a 1990's model, so repairs via Bruker would be exorbitant. We need to find a source for spare Bridge parts, or someone with experience in repairing or trouble-shooting bridge malfunction. We would be grateful for any referrals or information that enable us to repair our EPR spectrometer and resume our materials science investigation.
If you have someone who can do some trouble-shooting and repair, then don't count Bruker out. They have provided parts for my ER-200D, a 1970's model EPR, at a reasonable price. That said, if you need someone who can replace your source and get the bridge working again, then your best bet may be a third party. There is someone in Wisconsin, I believe, who does this type of work. A simple Google search will bring it up, I'm reasonably sure. If it's your source that needs replacing, it will probably cost 8-10 K.
I'm not quite sure who has what these days, but there's a couple of people you should contact that are familiar with these bridges and may have spare parts. The first is James Anderson of Research Specialties in Cedar Grove, WI. He comes to MCW regularly and has a lot of spare parts that go several decades back. You can reach him at [email protected]. You may also want to consider contacting someone from the Eaton lab at the University of Denver. They often offer spare parts and advertise them in the EPR Newsletter.
