The booming of e- Governance in India! Are the citizen really benefiting out of it? Today we are talking about the smart cities, e- governance, e- procurement and many more, but are the citizen happy and are the taking responsibilities to attain the services provided by the Government at various levels?
It is a mixed bag! India is full of diversity. one can note successful e-government services like ITax, e-commerce like IRCTC (but can be termed as G2C), online tendering G2C, Direct benefit transfer through PAN and UID for MGNREGA ... many more.
I do not know about the direct benefits that apply in the case of India, however electronic government initiatives enhance transparency and increase accountability of any government. Further, in large countries such as India information dissemination it should be an importnat issue, and cost cuts should be substantial.
Further, in India smart phone adoption and usage is quite high and this implies that people are using more and more technology.
