Ritchie, J., Lewis, J., Nicholls, C. M., & Ormston, R. (Eds.). (2013). Qualitative research practice: A guide for social science students and researchers. sage.
After I saw Flick, U., von Kardorff, E. and Steinke (2004) A Companion to Qualitative Research.London: SAGE Publications Ltd. mentioned twice (Kenneth Lui-ming Ngie, Mohammad Jalaluddin Abbas), as I was not familiar with it, I decided to look it up. The pdf of the volume is available online. Search for:
[PDF] A Companion to QUALITATIVE RESEARCH - ResearchGate
and it is the first thing that comes up.
But as the actual pdf comes without a web address, I was not able to give one.
I also found this link for the volume suggested by Sravanti Ghosh:
Berg, B. L., Lune, H., & Lune, H. (2004). Qualitative research methods for the social sciences (Vol. 5). Boston, MA: Pearson.
Article Qualitative Research Methods for the Social Sciences 5
I have met the JW Cresswell book before, as suggested by Ayman Amin and would also recommend it.
I would recommend Patricia Leavy’s (2018) newest book, Research Methods (https://www.amazon.com/Research-Design-Qualitative-Quantitative-Approaches-ebook/dp/B00DYWBXXE)
It is written in an exceptionally accessible manner, provIdes examples and practice applicable for any stage, she is a sociologist by training, and if using one of her books for your course, she is often willing to Skype in to give a short talk or answer questions. Hope this helps! Will be interested to see what you decide.
Re your above response. I looked for Patricia Leavy and found that she was a ResearchGate member (I'm fairly sure that I have the correct id).
But when I tried your link, I got the Cresswell research book. He referenced Leavy but it does not seem to be an edited book.
I'd be really interested to look at Leavy's work. Do you have another link. It isn't on her RG page. It is lovely that she is sometimes willing to speak to students who are using her material for their courses.
Thanks for that. I had never heard of the author and was well impressed. I could not access her latest book by the link in your response; do you have another link for it?
