I'm still in the early stages of my graduate studies as a MSc Zoology student in the Philippines, and I am interested in working on the systematics and historical biogeography of reef fishes (although still not sure which taxon to work on) for my PhD. This is a bit broad, but as early as now I want to have an idea as to which universities have these disciplines within the research areas of their PhD programs and have good mentors that can help me grow as an independent researcher.
Any suggestions and/or tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Before starting your Ph.D., if you are interested in reef fishes then you have to gather the check-list of reef fishes world-wide then you have to gather the check-list of the reef fishes at the location of your desire. If you do so, then you can decide for the taxon to work with.
Hi Rakesh, thanks for the suggestion. The question is more inclined toward looking for a university with a good PhD program focusing on the two desired disciplines. I've been doing what you suggested, so thanks again for contributing.
