Hi everyone
We as a group, are looking to get a ramping controller, that is, a piece of instrument that can allow one to control the rate with which the temperature is increased in a reaction. It should also be able to hold several segments per reaction (i.e. heat with x degrees/min then keep it for y long then increase z degrees/min and so on and so forth).
It seems a bit more complicated than i expected with temperature programmers coming into play. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

You can use traditional "Industrial Temperature Controllers" that have programmable steps. I can suggest one product E5CN-HT from Omron that has 32 programmable steps and you can have 8 such different patterns of your settings.

A very simple solution is to add a filter for the setpoint (first order). Is like RST controller.

Hello,
It is a very simple task for someone who has some elementary know-how in process control. Besides that you need a simple PID controller (stand alone, or implemented in a PLC or DCS) with programmable setpoint feature.
