There are many strategies to help university students as long as their study, as presented by Dr. Debra. It is my experience as a lecturer.
In the learning approaches, besides we can combine the behavioral, cognitive, and the humanistic approaches, I think, we must focus on the humanistic approach for the adult students in particular. As a human, their behaviors and cognition skills may have been developed for many years, but the students have been starting the mature learning process. Psychologically, they need to be assisted.
In respect of the above mentioned description, giving motivation is my strategy. The objective is to encourage the students to understand their strategic position on the learning process. One of the techniques is, stimulate the university students to think analytically about the future, how they can reach a success in the next stages of their life. For example, using the SWOT or REACT analyses.
Despite the fact that, part of the students may have not take care with their strategic position, but I have seen several enlightened eyes in my classes.
Start with identifying each student's learning difficulty and place him/her (or advice him/her, at the least) to the most appropriate university course/program where he/she can learn better.
Students with learning difficulties at the university level there are many strategies that can help them to learn better, E.g. Computer Simulation Strategy, Think pair share Strategy, Group Discussion, CAI, Drawing , etc strategies can be university level professors could implement for those learning difficulties students.
Hi, what we did before is to know first the underlying cause, and then do a computer based simulation exercise to test some hunches, and conduct FGDs. And as part of the initial solution, we tried to identify their issues and realize the implications of their issues. An intervention was made to address the situation.
