Is it possible to quench a steel sample from a 800 degrees celsius to 300 degrees celsius within a time frame less than 100 seconds by placing taking it out and placing it in another furnace whose temperature is same as the final quench temperature one wants to achieve.
The aim is to miss the nose of the TTT curve to achieve a partial martensitic structure before raising the temperature for carbon partitioning to take place.
YES !!! it is possible. Quench it salt. try to search for salts whose melting point is 300 deg C. you can do it.
Air circulating furnace could be the answer to this problem. Or you can alter your furnace to blow cool air through it, But you have to do some R&D for "when to stop".
