Recently I have submitted one research paper to the reputed thomson reuters indexed journal. Status it is showing as " Under Evaluation", what does it mean ?
The status "Under editor evaluation" has two meanings:
1. If you get this status only before the paper went to review process, It means it will be rejected.
2. If you see this status after a period of time when the status was "Under Review", it means that there are a contradiction between reviewers decision, I.E. one says accept, another says reject. So in such case, the editor should evaluate the answers and make his decision for one of two possible answers:
Probably article is checked at this time by the editors, after this stage, the editor can convey it to review (or not). I suggest to check on the journal website, what are the stages of the evaluation. Review process may take a very long time.
It is indeed stressful. That's where I am speaking from also. I submitted mine 31 August 2015 and it went from "Under Review" to "Under Editor Evaluation" as well. Since I have too much other work to do I decided that I will simply await communication from the journal. I imagine that three-four months might just be normal for most "typical" articles in journals. I would be seriously worried if the work warrants "rapid communication", e.g. a major discovery, etc. It's sad, though, that the journal does not shed light on what "Under Editor evaluation" means on the author page.
The same I have at elsevier. Agree, It is stressful. Submitted in midNovember 2015, the paper was "under review" 2 month, and now "Under Editor evaluation".

My SoftwareX (Elsevier) paper followed similar progression. After 9 months of nail-biting and two revisions, acceptance! Followed by rapid publication.
Today I also faced same thing, first my paper was under review for 9/10 days, now suddenly today it is changed under editor evaluation, I am worried!! what does it mean..I am really tensed..please guide me
i submitted my article to an reputed journal with high impact factor. It took two months from editor to move to reviewers and another one month from under review to under evaluation. Hope there will be a positive response from the editor.
