Spontaneous polarization of a liquid crystal compound either in planar or homeotropic orientations should be the same or not?

I have measured the value of spontaneous polarization (Ps) for a bent-core liquid crystal compound filled in both planar and homeotropic aligned commercial cells of thickness 9 micron. The trend of the Ps value with the variation of temperature is quite identical but the value is not the same. It differs by approximately 100 nC/Cm2. Is this possible?
