What could cause specific heat capacity of a salt mixture (m.p 500 oC) to change by roughly 25 % between 600 and 700 oC. Also, it seems that slight variations in mole % of components affect it.
We need some more information to decide. Did you test the weight of the sample before and after the run, is there any change? How did you measure the specific heat capacity? Do you have a plot of the measurement (thermogram) ?
Dear Günther W. H. Höhne and Enrique Cardenas-Sanchez thank you a lot for your replies.
The sample weight was taken before and after the measurements and it stayed within the measurement uncertainties. Measurements were done in sealed golden pans and loading was done inside a glovebox. DSC was used to do the measurements. This behaviour (when heat capacity was increasing with the temperature was observed for 6 samples and 4 of them had steep slopes (ca. 25 % increase).
