SiC base ceramic foams: what causes the tiny pores "in struts"?

There seems two types of porosity in these SiC bases foams, one "between struts" and the other "in struts". Any idea of the reason of the formation of the second form?

There seems the last one is more probable.

Do you reckon that the SiC based matrix will decompose in around 1300C and lead to these features?
