NHS in UK allowed nurses to clinically examine, diagnose and prescribe drugs in 2006. Since they started working as doctors the 37000 people died with sepsis (complications of infections), admissions increased by 48% and children less than 5 years admitted in hospital for 24 hours doubled. Now the NHS is promoting pharmacists as expert advisers on a wide range of health issues, support for self-care and medicines to treat common complaints such as coughs and colds, flu, sore throats, earache, backache, stomach upsets and cuts and grazes. Is this ethical?
