Researchgate gives a list of "related researchers" who are deemed to have "similar interests" because they have cited the same publication.
On the face of it, that is a very handy feature, however, it can also be very misleading.
For example, many applied (and pure) mathematicians cite Abramowitz and Stegun, "Handbook of Mathematical Functions" in their publications, but that does not mean they should be categorised as "related researchers".
Should there be some cited publications that are excluded from consideration because they are so prominent?
