I am confused if I should use a t-test or one-way ANOVA. Am looking at teachers' knowledge, skills, and use of portfolio-based assessment in terms of their academic qualifications (diploma, degree, and masters) and gender (males and females). Please any help.
ANOVA and T test are used to test if there is a significant difference between two or more groups. When we have more than two groups, we use ANOVA; while we use t test for two groups and when testing if the mean or proportion is different from a particular number.

Independent variables; Gender, and Academic Qualification.
PS; Look up random effects modeling, you might have a hierarchical structure.

These are definitely categorical. So a t-test is NOT appropriate, you need a 2-way ANOVA.

How do you measure these? Are they numeric or categorical?
If they are categorical then ANOVA also is probably not appropriate and you should consider a contingency table.
How many cases do you have because unless you have a lot then conclusions from this might also be doubtful?
