Hi,

I am currently working on a study in which I need to design a Ultrasonic Pulser-Receiver circuit to be used to drive a transducer for non-destructive testing.

So far I have made the circuitry for the pulse generation, and I am looking at receiving the signal through some filters and amplification circuit.

I am not a computer/software/hardware engineer, and therefore I have a hard time figuring out the hardware I need for receiving the signal. At this point I know that I need some kind of ADC converting the analog signal to a digital signal. Then I should have something to process this digital data, like storing or connecting to a PC. For this I was thinking about using a DSP. But I am not sure. Also I was thinking that my DSP could control the gate drive for the pulse generation. The received signal is in the order of 5 MHz.

My question to you guys is, what would be good hardware for this kind of application? Can a microcontroller do all the jobs? IC circuit? or ADC - DSP? Some kind of data acquisition system?

Thank you in advance!
