Binary data can be standardized if the two categories contained within the veriable have interpretable numerical property. In order for the standardazation to be meaningful, it Is very imperative to answer first this question: does the MEAN of these binary data is meaningful? If yes, then ultimately the standard score (which primarily depends on the mean) will be open for interpretation
